Full disk 24-02-2021

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

Again a Sunny day but with very uniform thin and high clouds but imaging no problem. A little bit of a breeze.

Here are the discs. AR 12805 is vanishing but AR 12804 is going strong. The three pores of yesterday are just one today near the meridian at ~ +22° and ~-2°and insterad of it in H-alpha there is a huge surface perturbation.

The hedge prom and the neighbouring one have brigded and built a huge single promince in the Southwestern limb. Difficult to appreciate.

As always best seen in full original size (2280x2280 pixels) in a new tab/window :bow2

Very good indeed Rainer! The good weather we have forecast for the weekend is still forecast, i'm hoping to catch the activity before it passes over the limb.

Looking good there, Rainer. That southern prom looks spectacular.

Hoping to see this for myself over the next day or two.

Amazing photos and resolution Rainer!!! Congratulations!

Since I am very new here (just two days), may I ask what telescope, filters and camera were used for these results and what processing (mostly frames taken and used)?

Hi Alexandros,

For H-alpha I use a Takahashi FSQ 85ED with a double stacked original Coronado (not Meade) SM 60 filter with a BF30 and an old fashioned Lumenera Infinity 2-2M. The H-alpha etalon adjustment is motorized and so easily tunable remotely while looking on the Monitor while acquiring the videos.

The discs are a mosaic of 9 single images. The speed of the camera is only 16 frames per second and I make 480 frames per video in AVI format. Prodess them in AviStack 2.0 and the rest is assembling in Photoshop like a bit of Histogram tuning usings Levels and a delicate Unsharp mask. I use all 480 frames.

The White Light image is a Mosaic of 4 single images and I use a Takahashi FS-78 with a very old Baader Herschel-wedge and a ZWO ASI 290MM Cool camera.

As the ASI 290MM Cool is a fast camera giving me 82 frames per second I take 1000 frames and process the same as H-alpha except no Unsharp mask at all. I use all frames with a brightness over 99.5%.

Thanks a lot Rainer for the very detailed answer! Beautiful equipment.

I have not heard about a remotely tunable H-alpha etalon so far (just because I am new). Very interesting.

I am waiting for my ASI290MM (but not Cool) next week for my first real steps in White Light (although with a very old C8...), so you give me hope on the improvement I am waiting to see in comparison with the Canon DSLR, just from the camera. I know the C8 will be difficult to handle, until I get a proper and lower aperture solarscope.

Thanks once more,

Alexandros

Hi Alexandros,

Here in this topic in this forum, starts with message #8 from top to bottom you can see how I motorized my etalons with stepper motors.
