Hello Everyone! I'm New

Post by Solar Seeker 52 »

Greetings everyone!

I just joined to get new understanding on how our sun works and to view it! I just purchased a new solarmax iii
Double stack 15mm scope! I got it the other day. I am now waiting for my tripod to show up. I am ichin to get it set up and view the sun! Any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!

I have two Coronado SolarMax II DS scopes with BF15 blockers. The SolarMax III should be an awesome setup! Will you be doing visual or imaging or both? I have experience as a visual observer and am a newbie at imaging.

Hi James!

Pleasure to meet you! Yes sir, I plan to do visual for sure. I need to learn how to use it first. I would love to do some imaging soon. I was looking at the SolarMax iii with the 30mm setup but boy too expensive! Love to pick your brain if I have any questions.

Jason

Welcome to the forum Jason. First get acquainted with your new scope, take time to master on band tuning and focusing on full illumination of the disk if imaging full disk and across the field when close up. Couple that with becoming accustomed with the capture software and controling the gain and exposure depending on seeing conditions. Solar imaging particularly is quite different from night night imaging although there are some crossovers.

Most of all remember to have fun.

Let me know how the SMIII scope does. Is it a SMIII 70 or a SMIII 90?

Welcome Jason!

I am also very new to the forum (just days before you). Lots of kind people here are helping with their experience and advice.
I still can image only in white light and have not decided yet on the H-a instrument that I will buy, so I will be interested on any of your first experiences and images.

Best wishes,
Alexandros
