Hi Everyone
After a really nice day yesterday and plowing through the shopping, house work, washing and general animal maintenance ( Cleaning Out The Trays )
I headed for the garden, hard drive in hand to spark up the solar gear for a second day
Seeing is poor but does settle down after a while. SSM module being thought about.
Anyway a few grabs form today
Solar Observing is looking up
Richard

Good results given the conditions yesterday, they were awful. It's just nice to be out in the spring sunshine.

Re: AR2804 27-02-2021 H-alpha
Hi Brian
Many thanks for your comment, I see you use similar kit to mine, gave you used the 1600 yet with the Daystar SE I was thinking about it but so far have been happy with the 174mm.
The skies must be crisp where you are, mind you I bet it gets a little chilly,
Kind regards
Richard

Re: AR2804 27-02-2021 H-alpha
Hi Richard...
I use the Quantum infrequently, generally come out on days of very good seignior (by my standards) and there is some excellent details to image. The Lunt is just easier to use...the pressure tuner responds immediately where the Quantum takes time to heat to the base temperature then more time to heat/cool if you need to adjust the central wavelength.
I have use the 174 chipped camera with the it as well, though the ASI1600 should work fine. Its frame rate isn't as fast as the 174, and unless I need the larger chip I'd be cropping closer to the FOV provided by the smaller chipped camera anyway. I was planning to test out the best fit once the weather warms up and the sun offers us some nicely detailed AR's
The sky conditions here are quite variable, but when the transparency and seeing are good it is great for both the day and night parts of the hobby. Chilly indeed...typical winter lows are in the -10C to -15C range in the day with nights down to the -30's. Mid summer day are hot and humid, with daytime highs in the high 20's to low 30's, but I does climb above that on occasion. All season are subject to big swings depending upon the jet steam and where the weather of the day originates...fed from the gulf bu southerly flows or high pressure pushing arctic cold to the south. The winter of 2020-2021 has been unseasonably warm (no super cold nights) with snow cover since Christmas Day. Still lots on the ground as we move into March.

Hi Alexandra
Many thanks for your kind comment, it was so spring like I broke out the Lawn mower for the first time this year, I know it’s tempting the rain gods, but it was last September that it got done, and looked more like a bush than a lawn, glad to get it out of the way
Hoping this year has lots of activity, drooling over a Lunt 100 double stack twin pressure tuned scope out there needing a new home, so tempted. So many things are tempting, I think I need a rap on the knuckles from my better half
Richard
