February 28 2021. WL only

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is 11:30am until 1:00pm EST local time. Skies are mostly cloudy. Seeing is below average. The temperature is 68F. Windy.

Astro-Tech AT72EDII w/ Altair wedge and 540nm filter. 24x, 43x and 72x ( WL )
I can see two patches of faculae in the NW. AR12804 is on the limb with AR12803 trailing behind. I cannot see the main spot in AR12804 but I can see a couple of smaller ones embedded in it's faculae to the NE. I can also see a patch of faculae near the SW limb. It is that of AR12805. I see no spots within it.

I see a lone pore in the SE. It appears there may be an emerging flux region there.

Granulation is visible today but not well.

Carpe Lumen!

James

Good job James. I just noticed that pore in the SE pop up. Hopefully it will continue to grow.

Dan,
I spotted it before I noticed it on the SDO image. I thought " that's new ". All the other activity is receding in the west.

Nice report James! the seeing was dawg awful here today too. Sky was a blue as a blue thing, but was like looking through a bucket of water. The sun is getting ever higher in the sky, so we can be greatful of that,

Mark,
Most of the time today I was fighting clouds for a view. I didn't bother with Ha or imaging because of it. And yes the Sun is certainly rising in declination, that's for sure! It makes it much easier to observe the Sun!
