Sun in Ha and CaK 1st March '21

Post by Carbon60 »

Just a couple of FDs today in Ha and CaK. The CaK image (mosaic) is a bit patchy, but I'll take it. The secondary filter (omega) was playing up and I struggled to achieve a uniform view, rotating it this way and that to try to null out an annoying lighter band down the centre. Some more tinkering is required....

The Ha FD was imaged using my DS Lunt 60.

The conditions today were pretty good, although slightly hazy with the dregs of earlier fog just ebbing away, slowly.

I'm really pleased with the Coronado BF on the Lunt. It's so much easier to get the scope and front etalons tuned up for more uniform FDs than I could achieve with the Lunt BF. I'm sure mine must be defective. The image is also much brighter with the Coronado allowing shorter exposures.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.
