New Sunspots! CaK Sun 2nd March

Post by marktownley »

The skies cleared here late this afternoon, and when to my surprise I looked on the AIA imagery I saw a couple of active regions had formed. I raced home from work to try and catch the last rays of the sun. I did, but the sun was so low and dim I had to use 2x2 binning to even be able to expose. Still, glad to have caught it. Having the mount outside and ready really speeds things up, I think I will look at getting permanent 12v out there next...

Taken with the 40mm f10 2x cemax barlow.

More activity! Whoop whoop!

Mark

Very nice CaK shots Mark! What's that just off the eastern limb?

I am clouded out again today but noticed the two spot groups on the SDO continuum image.

Thanks James, just a stacking artifact i'm afraid, nothing exciting. I wanted to capture, process and get these images up quick, so they've had the rough and ready treatment.

Lovely capture Mark, yep two sunspot and plage area's, despite spots being small at the moment. I managed to image to but won't be processing until tomorrow. Well done Mark and thanks for sharing.

Great captures - and nice to see that there is something to observe again! I also took the CaK scope out, but I captured several panes for a mosaic and Autostakkert is still crunching SER-files. I hope your luck with the weather goes on!
