2" Baader Amici 90° diagonal with Quark for visual Solar
Has anyone used the 2" Baader 90° Amici diagonal with the Daystar Quark and a refractor for visually observing the Sun for correct visual orientation( east, west, north, south). I would like to see the GONG image in my refractor, not east-west flipped. Anyone used this Amici with their refractor? I could buy it,and if it is not good, return it,but that's a hassle in itself.
Thanks,
Bob
Thanks,
Bob

It would be nice to have a diagonal or solar wedge that showed the sun image correct as GONG does. I'll have to look this diagonal up.

Re: 2" Baader Amici 90° diagonal with Quark for visual Solar
I’ve used the Baader T2 Amici diagonal for both solar and lunar. As you’ll know the problem with these diagonals is they are difficult to make precisely and often there’s a spike visible. The Baaders are among the best on the market, yet even some of these do show the spike at higher magnifications. Mine is perfect fortunately, so I can go up to 200x on the Moon with no image deterioration whatsoever, likewise for solar with a Quark. If you buy a 2” example new, the chances are it would be fine for solar, but you might have to be prepared to send it back for a replacement if it shows a compromised view at higher power.

I have one and works fine for solar. No spikes can form when observing very extended objects like the sun or the Moon.

Thank you,Highbury Mark, and krakatoa 1883 for your sharing your experience using the Amici for solar observing. Much appreciated! It's exactly what I was hoping to get from this forum.
Thanks again,guys!

Re: 2" Baader Amici 90° diagonal with Quark for visual Solar
I absolutely recommend the Baader 2" Amici correct image diagonal for visual H-alpha visual observing.
I compared my 2"Di-Electric diagonal and saw NO difference in the image with my Quark Chromospere,Lunt 102mm ED refractor and William Optics Binoviewer using matched 25mm and 32mm Plossls,EXCEPT NOW, using the Amici diagonal, the view is now orientated just like the GONG images, not flipped east-west as with conventional refractor diagonals. Very pleased indeed!
I don't know how to post this setup on Solarchat( I am nerd/geek compromised on this site)) and have NO CLUE how to post a picture here, BUT,I was able to post a picture on CN forum, using "Solar Observing and Imaging" forum, under post,"Lunt 40mm
Review-Update!" if you guys want to see how my setup looks with the Lunt 40mm and Lunt 102mm ED scope look attached to each other for high resolution views(Quark) and full disc views(Lunt 40mm scope), IN TANDEM with each other on Minitower II mount.
I love it!

Re: 2" Baader Amici 90° diagonal with Quark for visual Solar
Hi Bob, Welcome to this forum.
Re your request as how to post images on SolarChat, first go to the appropriate SolarChat page for:-
"Commercial Solar Filters/Cameras/Hardware" for the images of your gear...
then as the below post refers:-

The easiest way Bob, would be to open a "New Topic"
Then enter your "Subject" preferably with a date of image(s) when acquired - for every-bodies ease of search.
Enter your text relating to your captures in the big oblong-box.
Go to "Full Editor Preview" or go to "Attachments" below the big oblong box and then "Add files" ...
Usually, this will take you to your desktop-page and show images that you may or could put on your desktop that you wish to post on SolarChat.
Then simply "Open" the file/image(s) that you wish to post.
It/they will show-up in the "FILENAME" section below the big oblong box (with options).
Then good idea to use the "Preview" tab to check all your entry and your pic(s) are correct.
If so, then "Submit" and await for your post to appear on that screen in light-blue. (may take a a few seconds)
If not shown then repeat the "Submit" procedure, as maybe more than one poster at the same, stops your post.
+++
A reminder, that please only post as JPEG's as other-formats are not accepted, with an image-size limit of 2Mbyte per image and preferably small Mbytes of say up to no more than 1Mbyte each, as sufficient detail is easily seen by the viewers at even 200Kbytes approximately.
This is to conserve SolarChat's need to avoid having to apply paying-adverts from other sources due to the cost for this charity site - where over many-years there is a massive amount of data stored, which some may have to be lost due to maximum storage-space available at present... Thank you...
