20min time lapse (condensed into 6 seconds) of large prom from today
I saw this yesterday from the images of others and was bummed because we were clouded out here! Thanks to everyone for those images, really enjoyed them.
Seeing wasn't good today with leftover clouds and light haze still present from yesterday (hence the considerable fluctuations in disc brightness), but had to capture anyways since it was such a big prom, largest I've seen in some time! That deserves imaging, even if the conditions weren't cooperative.

This is great! Animations like this show how alive the Sun really is. It's awe inspiring when you realize that the Earth a dwarfed by this massive prominence and you realize how fast the plasma is actually moving in so short of a time!
Thumbs up on a well done animation!!

Thanks! Ya, it blows my mind too. Given how small the earth is compared to something like this, I get even more tripped out trying to imagine how small I am compared to all of this, and how quickly I'd vanish in a puff of steam and carbon were I transported into it, and the universe would never know, lol. Truly humbling to see something so huge and so powerful....but from a safe distance:)

Exactly as James has said and truly an excellent animation of this not too-common event.
Your added comments certainly make me also realise how small we are too..
Thanks vm for sharing

Thanks everyone. And ya, if I hadn't of logged in to see everyone else talking about it, I would have completely missed it as well. May there be many more as we march on to solar maximum, lol!

Re: 20min time lapse (condensed into 6 seconds) of large prom from today
Can I add Matt, that keeping an eye on the SDO website, really does show what is available to see and with updates within 30-mins of events really occurring in real-time, which is how I knew about the "Monster" in time to catch it...
I would of course immediately post here of any known major event as quickly as possible - so others can see/image too...
Hopefully others would do the same too...

Very nice work!
I never get tired of seeing that "rain" falling back to the "surface".

Oh wow, I didn't even notice, my shortcut to solarchat takes me right into the 'thisissolarchat' forum, bypassing the front page of the website where spod is visible. Cool!
