More of the large prom 30/03/2021
Just to add my effort of the large prom yesterday. I finished processing just before bed last night. I did set up early to view the Sun in CaK through the C11 and concentrated on that before work, then read Jozef's post and hurried out for another hour to do Halpha. The blocking filters work perfectly so very happy, must report back to Helmut. He was very quick, they were back with Solarcope and back to me in just a couple of days, that is service for you! (Royal Mail took the longest time).

I calculated it to be just a smidge over 100,000km in height.
Update on the garden rats, I managed to catch one of the 4 babies yesterday. He was quite calm and cute, I then went to take a photo of him with the iPhone and as soon as I pointed the camera at him he started to scream and scream. I didn't know they could do that and it was awful. As soon as I put the iphone down he calmed down again. What was that about? Do iPhones emit something we don't know about? anyway he is now relocated safely in the river valley with some peanuts in his suitcase. Hopefully his littermates might join him in the next few days.

Morning Alexandra,
Those images of the biggie - are fabulous and the animation is excelenty-fabulous, so very well done there and thanks vm for sharing.
(I did notice similar-movements (as yours show) of it during my AVI downloads and have yet to see if an animation is worth while).
As far as the baby-rat is concerned during an attempt to photograph it, of course mobile-phones do emit constantly RF micro-waves, so possibly baby was scared of being cooked !!!
Regards
Terry

Superb animation and images, Alexandra. I love the coloring also. As far as the rats, I would immediately notify Apple.

Hello Alexandra,
Thank you for sharing the animation and images of the Prom. They are wonderful. You are very talented.
Regarding your rat problem. We have a similar issue over the winter, but I'm sorry to say I was not as caring. Caught 14 of the little blighters. They were attacking the squirrels; blue tits and blackbirds. Birds; squirrels and humans now happy.

Very nice! I love the animation. The color on the third image is nice too.
Rats hear well into the ultrasonic range. The phone may emit sound above our hearing range. They can hear sounds above what dogs can hear. More comparable with bats.

Hello Alexandra,
Thanks for the incredible work on that prom ! I also captured it over an hour or so and will try my best to process it but am not experienced.
What was wrong with your DSF solarscope ? filter problems.
Thanks.
Magnus.

As James has said,
"Rats hear well into the ultrasonic range. The phone may emit sound above our hearing range. They can hear sounds above what dogs can hear. More comparable with bats."
I wonder if that could be because both of those have much-smaller hearing-bits, which likewise, the higher the frequency would normally entail a smaller receiving device to resonate - as in radio-communications with their aerials ?? Have to look up more about that in due course...

Re: More of the large prom 30/03/2021
Great animation and discussion on rat hearing. I relocated several last year. I didn't realize I had them until I opened an empty telescope box and found a HUGE stash of bird seed. Apparently they got into my bird seed (now stored in sealed containers), carried it up the stairs to the attic. I felt bad about moving them to another property (by the river) after they spent all that energy making their food stores.
