April 3 2021 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is 11:30am until 11:50am EDT local time ( US ). Skies are clear with fair seeing. The temperature out is 45F.

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x, 21.5x and 33x ( Ha )
First off I notice a new plage in the NW quadrant of the disc. It's small but bright. I can see two spots within it and a dark filament that appears to be connecting them. Elsewhere on the disc I see two filaments in the far south and two more in the far north. I see a small prominence on the SW limb and another small prominence on the SE limb.

I see the mottles covering the disc easily today. I quickly found the details much more easily today unlike yesterday when I had to work to see nearly everything.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope 25x and 50x ( WL )
I see two sunpots easily in the new plage today. The SW spot is a bit bigger than it's NE neighbor. I also see a patch of faculae in the SE.

The fine granulation of the solar disc is visible.

Off to see a friend in Rock Hill SC I go. My scopes are going with me.

James

Nice report James, glad you got a session in. I had blue skies all afternoon today and had the scopes out too. Just processing the data.

Thanks for the latest update James and seeing some spots too.

The temporary pc is up and running with all four cameras working, so hopefully just need some blue skies that I can steal from Mark T.
One of the cameras is the POLEMASTER...

Had to turn the Classical music up to drown the USB noises... Perhaps I should have turned the pc-volume down instead...

Cheers
Terry

Oh yes of course James - had to be done and heard...

Update, my IT guy (a previous PC engineer) is taking the H.P. away on Tuesday to initially see if it can be sorted and hopefully-before it might need to go back to the computer-supplier nearby for after 12-4-2021...

Cheers and I recall you are going on a trip, so have a safe journey. as well as hopefully CLEAR SKIES too...

Regards
Terry
