Monday Sun 5th April 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

After a snowy start to the day, the sky changed dramatically and for most of the morning/early afternoon it turned cloudless, rich blue and clear although a little turbulent, resulting in only average seeing, making close views quite a challenge.

Anyhow, here's what I got in Ca II K and Ha.

First up, a Lunt B1800 Ca II K full disk (2 pane mosaic) on a 72mm Altair Astro Lightwave with 1.5x Barlow and Basler acA2440-75 um. AR2813 can be seen towards the western limb with a little black dot core and a new patch of plage is visible in the east.

Here's a closer view of the active region, this time captured on a Tecnosky 125mm scope.

Over to the red part of the spectrum, here's a full disk captured on a Lunt 60 (double stacked) again using a Basler acA2440-75 with a 1.5x Barlow.

There's a little prom in the south, imaged here on the same scope using a Basler acA1920-155um camera and 2.5x Barlow.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice shots Stu! It cleared up here today after some snow showers, but the seeing was absolutely terrible. Bad seeing or not it's just nice to get some sun for a change!
