April 5 2021 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is 10:00am until 12:50pm EDT local time ( US ). Seeing is above average. Skies are clear. The temp is 75F. Taken from Rock Hill S.C.

Coronado SolarMax II 90 DS. 32x, 44.5x, 64x and 133x. ( Ha )
I can vaguely see two plages. AR12813 in the NW and another in the SE. I can only with difficulty see two small filaments in the south. I can see prominences on all four corners of the disc. There is a nice bright northward curving one in the SW that can be seen to grow and change in the time I observed. There is also another decent group on the SE limb.

The mottles show up really well today and the limb spicule layer is well resolved at high power in singlestack. The spicule blades are easily seen.

I did one image using the iPhone of the prom on the SW limb.

TeleVue 85 w/Altair wedge and 540nm filter. 33x and 100x. ( WL )
I can see one spot within a faint facula in AR12813 in the NW. I also see two pores within a faint patch of faculae in the SE. I am also picking up some faculae in the SW and a little in the far south near the poles.

Carpe Diem!!

James

Sounds like a good day James! Nice report too. That prom looked nice on the 'live view' screen in CaK light earlier on today. Sounds pleasantly warm there at 75F, only 41F (5c) here today.

Yes, it’s nice here. By tomorrow Rock Hill will be in the low 80s. We were in the low 40s only a few days ago in Edneyville.

Cheers James for you latest efforts. The first image blinded-me a little at first, but the prom has come out very well.

Thanks for sharing and enjoy your visit away..

Thanks everyone. I’ll do solar here in Rock Hill before I leave back for home tomorrow evening. One thing I have noticed here vs at home lately is better seeing. I just wish the sun was more active.

James

A lovely report and pic James, I too enjoyed the large prom in the SW but it seemed to change a lot through the day :hamster:
