6th April 2021 Ca-K line

Post by Stardust5858 »

Hi all, still getting to grips with the new Lunt b1800 module. Only had chance with the Ca-K line today as to many fast moving clouds, so no HA today.
Still some amazing proms in Ca-K line. 70mm scope stopped down to 60mm with aperture mask from the 80ed. Processed with autostakker3, ImPPG and Photoshop. Still a lot of learning re: capture and light levels but here is the results from today.

Cracking close-up Prom images in CaK Nigella. Those two I think are the best two I've yet seen.
The coloured one of those two is excellent-colouring and the first coloured disk image is fabulous in its' colour.

You've set a bench-mark for me to challenge in Cak imaging...

Well done and thanks for sharing
Terry

Thanks Terry, appreciated. I've heard you could see proms in cak. Most days using the filter I've been able to see them. So different than in ha, as is expected. I actually love the cak filter, lol.

Thanks Stu, appreciated. It's unexpected to capture proms in cak despite reading one can.

Great captures Nigella, Cak will be my next step in Solar imaging, your images have inspired me even more.
It's interesting to see the taller prom in the distance behind the bright Hedgerow prom.

Thanks Martin, appreciated. Yeah, it's an interesting prom in Cak, I think almost phosphorescent.

Thanks Nigella. It was only recently that I discovered with my CaK scope that adjusting the brightness and contrast in processing, that I could see prominences, so make an interesting comparison with Ha, where adjusting the Etalon allows for Prominences, surface-detail or both to be captured..

Yes, it's nice to be able to compare now between ha and cak.

Nigella:
Very good CaK images including the proms.
BTW, I did answer your question in thelast thread where I did put some FD´s with CaK proms.
Hope it helps, if you have more questions that I can answer please let me know.
Best regards.
Eric.

Thanks James, appreciated. It's definitely a new learning curve. I was fortunate enough to get one on sale, cheaper than the b1200 which is crazy.
