April 7 2021 Observations.
Session time is 9:30 to 10:10am EDT local time ( US ). Skies are mostly clear. The seeing is average to maybe a little above. The temperature is 68F. I am back home in Edneyville N.C. today.
Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x, 21.5x and 33x ( Ha )
I can see three plages on the solar disc. AR12813 in the far NW near the limb, a second plage in the NE near the limb and a third plage in the SE.
As far as filaments go I can see three in the SW, Three in the far east/se and two in the NE. One of these is near a prominence and is a long S-shape. I also see one in the NW near a couple of thin bright prominences.
I can see three prominence groups. A couple of bright easy ones in the SW with one hugging the limb. I see another on the NE limb and two fairly bright spikes on the NW limb.
The mottles cover the disc and are easy to see.
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope with and without the 540nm filter. 25x, 50x, 62.5x and 83x ( WL )
I can see the faculae to AR12813 near the limb in the NW. I can also see the faculae corresponding to a plage seen there in the NE. SDO shows a very small pore located within the NE faculae. Try as I might I could not see it with certainty. I could pick up several tiny faculae in the south polar region and one in the north polar region!
The fine solar granulation is easily seen today.
Carpe Diem!
James

It's clouding up here too now. I seriously doubt I'll get a session in tomorrow.

Re: April 7 2021 Observations.
Nice report thanks James. Cloud and rain so far for me today, so no solar... Not to worry, i'm installing a surround sound system in a friends microbrewery today. He's paying me in kind with the efforts of his production, I can see it only going one way later on this afternoon

Aha! Sounds like you are gonna have a good day. Good sound and beer. Sounds awesome! What brand/make of the sound system? I too get a bit into audio. I could do without a TV but not music. Have fun my friend. You have found a good way to spend a cloudy day even if it does involve a little work. The pay is good anyway!!

Re: April 7 2021 Observations.
Excellent report, sounds like the seeing wasn't too bad if you could see the small faculae in white light and at the poles too

Re: April 7 2021 Observations.
Yeah, seeing was above average. I seem to have better luck with the seeing in warmer weather vs winter. The jet stream seems to ride lower in the winter months and the seeing is almost always rendered bad by it.

It's an Onkyo Receiver and Tannoy sub / satellites. It was my lounge system I bought about 10 years ago, then 18 months ago I upgraded the amp and speakers, the old system has been sat in the loft ever since doing nothing. I don't have any of the original packaging so selling on Ebay would be a PITA.
My buddy has been into his home brewing for many years, and really is very good at it, any we often comment that his beer is better than various commercial drinks. He's been brewing in his kitchen and is quite large scale production (think of a scene from Breaking Bad), his better half has been saying shes going to move in with him for years, but she said until the kitchen returns to being a kitchen, and his spare bedrooms are clear of bottled beers then it's not happening. He's talked about having a micro brewery in his garden so he can shift all his brewing stuff so she can move in, then last summer when lock down restrictions were eased, me, him and a couple of other pals just got together and built it from scratch, no real plans, just an idea of the end point. Lockdown resumption at various points meant things ground to a halt on and off, but now it's in a position where it has mains electricity, running water etc, and all that really remains to do is fixtures and fittings, trim around doors etc, hence getting a decent sound system in there is a must I don't think it will be long before production is shifted from his kitchen to the brewery.
As a project during covid times it been a great thing to do when everywhere has been closed and little else to do. All us 'workers' are paid in kind with the products of the brewery, a good afternoons work rounded off with beer tasting - we're quite simple creatures really

Re: April 7 2021 Observations.
That sounds really cool Mark. He sounds like my Dad. He has an acre in grapes and makes wine. In recent years he hasn't made as much but he used to have his wine in a room by itself fermenting until done. He lives alone and has no wife to fuss with about the wine taking up space or time in the kitchen. He doesn't have a license to sell wine but often barters for stuff he needs on his 14 acres of land with it. It's good wine but often quite strong. Often above 20 percent alcohol by volume. Not liquor strong but stronger than most beers. Yes I do get into it sometimes! He would distill liquor if it were legal. He has a good underground cellar to put a still.
You found an excellent way to relieve the COVID blues. Beer and music. And imaging every now and then.
