April 6th - Ha Session

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

We have had a very rapid onset of dry weather and a rush to fertilize crops and plant spring grains, so work has taken up a lot of my spare time this week. I did get a couple of short sessions over the lunch break, and just finished processing the images form April 6th.

Moderate seeing for the noon hour here, and with the limited time I only imaged through the DS LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha solar scope. The first image is a full disk composite of separate disk and limb exposures (with the limb inverted), and taken with the ASI174MM camera. There was a nice selection of active regions, filaments, and proms to focus on later:

To get higher resolution images of the regions of interest, I added a 2x focal extender tot eh optical train and changed to eh ASI290MM camera. The 2 images below are multi frame mosaics that capture the activity in the northern and southern hemispheres:

The better seeing also allowed me to get some prom images as well:

This is all from the session on Tuesday. I hope to have the Thursday set posted before too long ;)

Thanks Franco

I always enjoy getting a chance to observe/image during the busy season, even if it is only for a short time. A nit of a re-set button on the woes of the day ;)

Sounds like you're busy with work Brian, but like you say always nice to switch off to a bit of solar. Good set of images all round, i'm hoping for clear skies this weekend.

Some lovely prominences Brian, small but at that resolution they are really lovely :bow :hamster: the farmers around here seem to be working day and night, mostly muck spreading, seeding and potato planting.

Mark and Alexandra...

Thanks for the comments and feedback on the images...always appreciated :bow

Alexandra, the Cheshire Plain farmers are up to the same activities as we are, though we are a good 2-3 weeks ahead of 'normal' timing for us. We use a different, but maybe not as polite a term for the 'muck'

Take care,
Brian
