Sunday Sun 11th April 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

Another beautiful day with an almost cloudless start, so another opportunity for solar imaging in Ha and Ca II K. With half decent seeing (for a nice change) I even tried a close up view of the bright plage area towards the east.

Calcium II K FDs in mono and colour:

Seeing that the conditions were pretty good, I switched over to my Tecnosky 125 mm for a closer view of the bright plage region.

Lunt B1800 CaK module (modified)
Basler acA2440-75um camera

The images have been cropped a little.

Interestingly there are some bright points in the core of this region of magnetic froth, presumably indicating an increasing concentration of magnetic flux in these regions. There's also a little dark core. Maybe sunspot genesis......?

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Stuart,
It looks like you have captured a couple of pores in your excellent CaK closups. Your Ha and Cak full discs look great too!

Super shots Stu! If you compare those bright points in CaK you find they are contemporaneous with small pores in WL.
