Hi
Scattered clouds, light wind and clear patches.
1.00 BST
Rumak180 PST Mod2 Clave' 25mm
See the main prom groups on Gong. Some reflections visible and miasma. Moving about could see two dark spots and then the bright area around them under the 4 prom group.
Went over to the bino-viewers. Added the CPL which I have not used on these before. Made the background much darker and lost reflections.
Tried my new pair of 8x PZO eyepieces. Very nice.
Moved over to the Meade 127mm Triplet. Vignette to 95mm F10. Not quiet as good as the Rumak180. The sweet spot was high in the field. May have to try the tilter again to centralise the etalon. The 20x were not as good as the 16x.
Went to the Quark Chromo with 4.2x Barlow and Celestron 40mm Plossl. First time out this year as nice day.
As usual fine details in the proms against a dark background.
2.15 BST
1.30 Little spray pointing up. Looked like a little bird.
12.10 Tall jet seperated from the surface. To its right a faint apostrophy leaning to the right pointy end up. To its left a waterfall going down from its top. Then a dumpy surface prom leaning left. A brighter bowling ball prom to its left. And then a striated prom. Later it all looked like a lopsided angel.
3.00 Group of proms. Top one a jet leaning up, small jet feeding under middle, fuzzy tower going up from over bottom half of the jet and then a waterfall from the top going down to the leaning jet top. Then a thin jet with an oval top and hairs coming out of the top on the bottomt. above it a dumpy seperated hedge with smoke above. Then a conical flower vase jet, little arms at the side with umbrella in top hand. Couple of small spots above. Then a jet with spray over, a surface spot with seperated spot over leading onto a smoke jet.
10.30 A small jet curling down.
6.30 Large faint spray. Small jet at left. A small feed jet then a spray out, going smaller higher up. On its right a bright tuning fork, with the top of the left fork bi-furcated. A small gap and two little jets feeding a seperated hedge between them. Than a little bright pyramid with a small at ove leaning right. The main body was quiet faint and needed averted vision.
The brighter sunspot area looked like an armchair with a dark cushion.
90mm is at the 'engineering facility' being fitted with a pair of off-axis adapters to image with a good sector of the mica, hopefully.
Cheers. Andrew.
