April 15 2021 Observations. WL only.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is 1:30pm until 1:50pm EDT local time ( US ). Skies are mostly to partly cloudy. The temperature is 59F. Seeing is fair.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see three spot groups on the Sun today! First is AR12814 now in the SW quadrant. It contains a dozen or so small spots/pores with some trailing off into a tail from the main body of the spot cluster. East of AR12814 is another small group in which I can see half a dozen pores split in two sections. There is a third group very near the eastern limb. I can see three spots within this one. I can faintly see the faculae to AR12814 and the group near the eastern limb shows it's bright faculae easily. I see no trace of the faculae to the center group.

The fine granulation of the solar disc is visible.

Carpe Lumen!

James

Thank you James and yes it certainly looks as the Southern-Hemisphere "has it" today.

In fact is has been a while since southern spots are occurring and for three AR's - is looking good.

Cheers
Terry

These new spots at the S.E. limb are certainly quite large and dark, so hopefully they and the other southern spots will continue to provide some interest.

I would expect AR2815 and AR2816 to be allocated for these, but in which order is a guess at present.
