Full disc 15-04-2021

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

Here again some of my discs.

On April 13th a friend and I ahd the opportunity to vist a professional telescope for spectroscopy and so I was all day busy looking at something I had seen in images but never live :o We were invited by a Professor due to the fact that I collaborated with some Spectra and Photometry. It is just a small telescope with 120 cm mirror equipped with a spectrograph fed by fiber optic and a resolution of about 20.000.

OK, enough Off Topic, below the discs of today.

In H-alpha some very bright plages and in White Light a bunch of spots and pores in 3 different positions all in the Southern hemisphere and all at about -23°. If the spots persist then I guess we will have AR 12815 and 12816 ... tomorrow we will know ¿?

As usual best seen in full size in a new tab/window :bow2

Hi,

I hope this is not Off Topic but here some images of the tiny Telescope. A 500 kg mirror in a 18 ton structure. We were explained that the mirror cell has a weight of 2 tons.

We also saw a telescope 60 cm mirror mounted on an English Ecuatorial mount.

So what do you consider a large telescope?

Hi Dan,

Good question

¿ something like the VLT ? I have seen images of amateurs with telescopes like the one I posted ...

Rainer,
My white light view was very similar to your white light image but yours shows a bit more detail than I could see.

That was an awesome trip to a professional observatory. Thanks for posting the images you took there.

Rainer:
Beautiful mosaics as usual.
Where are placed those portable scopes you visited?
They look good to carry along.
Fuerte abrazo.
Eric.
