Fridays Hi-Res Smorgasbord -16th April
Another frosty start to the day with blue skies so being back home an opportunity to catch the better seeing first thing in the morning. The CaK images were shot at 120mm ~f40 with the homebrew CaK filter in a telecentric beam, the Ha 127mm with a Quark double stacked with a PST etalon, again, somewhere around f40. The FLIR Grasshopper 3 IMX174 camera was used in both instances with an 8ms exposure at ~50% gain, 4000 frames were shot for each file and the best 128 stacked in AS3, processed in ImPPG and colour added in CS6.
First off AR12814:

In other news I finally (after a 3 week delay) took delivery of a ASI290MM camera, which I want to explore with CaK. Off up the cut again tomorrow morning with the travelling kit again, so will be giving the new cam a run weather permitting.
Hope you like these!

Mark:
Beautiful images all of them.
Thanks for mentioning the ASI 290MM, I had forgotten that I have one so will try it in CaK imaging, it should give better results than the SKYnyx 2-2.
Best regards,
Eric.

I am really impressed by your Ca-K images, Mark, a very good result It have the impression, however, that those taken through your TAL are more sharp than these.

Re: Fridays Hi-Res Smorgasbord -16th April
An excellent set of images Mark and you were lucky with the weather today, whereas here in the S.E. it was only the afternoon/evening that beautiful clear skies have occurred.
I was able to get a short-session (images later), but an urgent matter took me away from the observatory, so cut short the imaging..
Thanks for sharing yours.
Terry

Re: Fridays Hi-Res Smorgasbord -16th April
Thanks everyone for your kind words! Another clear morning here, just about to head out for some imaging, then will be off to the boat for the rest of the weekend, hopefully some clear skies there too.
You're very observant Raf, I think he Tal100R definitely is my best scope for CaK imaging, however the Bresser 127/1200 is not too far behind, certainly a lot better than the Meade Ar5 it replaced. I would be interested to see how the Bresser 152/1200 compares to the 127/1200. A commercially available 150/1500 would definitely be on my wish listkrakatoa1883 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 2:16 pm It have the impression, however, that those taken through your TAL are more sharp than these.
