AR12814 and AR12815 - April 17, 2021

Post by ffellah »

Hello everybody: today not an easy day for solar imaging. Mostly cloudy here with 3 to 5 second gaps between the clouds and poor seeing conditions on top. I was able to take a close up of AR2814 and AR2815 but it needed a lot of processing to get anything out of a very flat stacked image.

Well gosh Franco. Despite clouds and poor seeing you managed to put together a very nice image. You must have had some moments of better than poor seeing. It looks like you are using an SCT. What type of Ha filter?

Hi David: thank you. This is the stacked unprocessed image saved in PNG format. The scope is the HaT scope and the filter is the Solar Spectrum that finally came home after a very long time out for repair.

Franco,
These turned out good considering what you had to look through. An AiryLab/Celestron HaT! Awesome!!

Nice kit franco, shame about the seeing. So frustrating when the seeing does not cooperate.
Looks like you are going to have fun when the seeing does you a favour.
Best wishes,
David

Thank you all for your nice comments. @James: yes, I like this set up. When the conditions are favorable it produces good results, but the seeing reduces the opportunities to use it.

Franco, a very beautiful photo, especially the last one, where the image is inverted. It looks like fur or velvet.

Hello Franco, you have certainly done so well in those challenging conditions to produce such an excellent images.

Similar cloud formation here today, but hey-ho !! That's what all astronomers/Solar-observers/imagers have to endure...

Thanks for sharing

Terry

Franco:
You got the shots you could do, sometimes we forget how difficult is to deal with those weather conditions when imaging.
Well done.

Fine images, Franco, the setup seems working fine, just wait for a better seeing.

Lot of wires above your head, almost disturbing as the clouds

Hi Franco,
Just wondering what is your feed back on the slar guider ? Are you happy with it for high resolution imaging ?
Thanks !
Christian

Hi Christian: yes, I think the Hinode guider helps a lot at high magnification to keep the image steady. It also has a very useful sound Sun proximity feature that make it very easy to point a large scope. I use it with all my scopes except the Lunt 50.
