Today I set behind the telescopes from between 10:50am until 2:00pm EDT local time ( US ) Most of this was just sitting listing to music while waiting for holes in an almost solid cloud deck. 90 percent of the time sitting vs 10 percent imaging. I never did get a chance to observe visually! The seeing was fair and the temperature 63F.
Today I successfully imaged full-disc with the SMII 60 after resetting the T-Max tuning peg to get it on band. I ended up still a bit off band on my full disc " surface " image but that was my fault for not quite getting the tuning right. I had it dead-on yesterday visually. I picked up the proms today using it. Something I found almost impossible before resetting the tuner. I could see them in DS but not in SS and I certainly could not image them. Today I succeeded!
I used the Orion 70mm White Light solar refractor with the 540nm filter to image full-disc white light today.
Both scopes are using my ZWO ASI178mm camera.
My music selections for today were:
Eric Whitachre: Deep Field.
Mike Oldfield: Return to Ommadawn.
Heavy Metal Movie Score: Elmer Bernstein.
Gustav Holst: The Planets.
Lars Leonhard: Deep Venture.
Enjoy
James

Re: April 18 2021 Imaging.
Oh very nice James and the music choice too.
All the artists are excellent, but the Planet Suite would be my favourite choice and of course appropriate for us astro-lookers.
The imaging is coming-on very-well and AR2816 is a splendid capture. Proms few and far between and shallow, but hey can't have everything...
My day, other than watching F!, was installing a newly acquired UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) in the observatory, which required it's own HD-shelf, as is quite heavy. Now when the mains power goes-out (outage as some say) it will make little difference for a short while at least. That outage has happened a couple of times this year, so hopefully in future I have an alternative + a petrol-generator, which will also be installed shortly (outside of course)...!!!
Well done James
Regards
Terry

In addition to my previous,
Watch the S.E. Limb for a possible exciting AR which CME'd yesterday and coming into view in the next day or so...
Cheers

Re: April 18 2021 Imaging.
Terry,
The proms weren't much better visually for me but others, like Rainer picked them up better in their images than I could see them visually.
Thanks for the heads up on a possible active region coming around the eastern limb. I will keep my eye out.
Blessings:
James
