Life discovered on the sun 19th April 2021?

Post by Radon86 »

Hi All,
I finally got my 0.5x focal reducer with the C-mount thread and stopped down my F6 ED70 refractor to 60mm and I noticed more detail and contrast in the video files, imaging with the quark. I was on band at about +3 on the Quark dials. I got about 65+GB of video files, so I will go through them, may take a while. I did discover something on the sun, though on one of the files. Wonder if this is a new life form ? I had to shrink it down for this forum, but may post it on another image hosting site sometime.

Any ideas how this life form arose on the sun ?

Bird on the sun?

:beanie:

Seriously, that has to be biological, with that regular irregularity. Nice catch!

Hi,

WOW, we need to send that to the UFO researchers.

Look like a very high flying bird. Have it quite often here at my place.

Hi Rainer,
I suppose it was a very high flying bird.
I will do some research to see what type of bird was migrating in the sky at that time.

Less likely: a robotic surveying aircraft from an alien civilisation surveying the sun for energy capture ?

Yup, its that rare plasma based life that lives on the sun. They are typically nocturnal though and so don't come out in the daytime, what a rare treat to capture one:)

That's brilliant  great images :bow :hamster: I'm wondering if it is actually a pollen grain? these can display themselves as small floating black dots on the surface and bright dots in black space. Just a thought, tree pollen in spring can be a pain.

Hi Alexandra,
I think its probably a bird. The image is a bit small, but I found there was over 100 frames with the "thing"" flapping its wings, I actually left out about 20 to 30 frames as it flies higher up. I might try and get the disc processed and superimpose the "bird"" thing.
But I suppose it could still be pollen. I never thought that it could be.

Thank you Mark.
I would never have believed it until you try yourself.
I also stopped my 60mm guidescope to 32mm and have got superb views (visually), and imaging wise not bad. I hope to get much better ones with the ASI174mm which just arrived this week !

Wow, I never new it could be so exciting to image the sun. The last 2 years seem like very little activity, with only occasional small sunspots and a few proms. Now it is much better to image. Hope not too many flares and CMEs come towards Earth though !!!!

Thanks for your help.

Hi Alexandra,

How big is pollen grain ? A telescope focused on the Sun IMHO would never resolve pollen grain at a distance of ¿? 10 to 100 meters or 1000 meters ¿?

How big is Pollen grain ? I read here something in µm range ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollen

Let us use the Ockham razor ... and let it be a bird     BTW born somewhere in UK

Hi All,

I added the frame extracted from the original .ser file, in 24fps, some gamma and gain adjustments, full size, file is in .avi on Dropbox (just right click on the link) and choose open in a new tab or window to view it. It is 165 MB size.

Still not working. Look at the settings and make it public ...

OK, It is interesting how the Human being is more prone to believe in highly sophisticated and mysterious thinks rather then accepting the most simple explanation ...

Look how it changes its form from frame to frame to frame ...

OK, I accept it is Pollen and an Insect or maybe an Insect full of Pollen ?       When I can see your video Alexandra I might change my opinion ... but for being Pollen that must have been a huge Pollen ball clustered together in order to make such a change in the illumination of the Sun = Shadowing the surface ...

Analyze the focus power of the telescope when focused to maybe infinity ... The distance of the Sun is not yet infinity as if you focus on stars or whatever else in the Deep Sky ...

My bet is that it is a Swallow crossing the field of view. Why Swallow ? Because of the speed and the erratic movement. Migrating big birds like Geese do tend to fly much more in a straight line ...

Just my 0.02 cents and IMHO

OK, I take my hat and get outta here ...

Hi Alexandra,

Look here a pollen cloud and if you look at that you must admit that it is impossible from a cloud like that get a defined profile as in the video in question. Such a pollen cloud would look more like a cloud passing in front of the telescope and obscuring it totally due to the FOV ...

OK, I do not know what is presented in your video

At my place, pollen looks like 2 cm diameter flakes, just like big snow flakes. It was just a nightmare last year when I tried to capture Venus close to the Sun. The sky was packed with these "pollen flakes".
