Hi Everyone.
After a snow dump on Saturday night / Sunday morning, skies cleared to a beautiful morning on Monday with Astrospheric predicting better than average seeing. I set up the C8 and took a few higher resolution shots of three regions on the Sun shown in the NSO picture below, a larger faint prom and active regions 12816 and 12817. Sorry about the random orientations of the images! On Monday, AR12817 was apparently not a full-fledged active region with a (SDO) designation of S6825. Unfortunately, I missed the filaprom which a number of you imaged beautifully. The seeing was along the lines of the Astrospheric prediction; moments where it was above average. After packing up my gear, the clouds rolled in with more snow flurries and they are still falling as I post this!
Shots were taken with the Celestron C8, Aries ERF, ~4.6x telecentric, Daystar 0.6A QPE, ~0.65x focal reducer and Pt. Grey Grasshopper (IMX174 cmos). The effective focal length was about 6 metres.
Cheers.
Peter

Re: H alpha from 19 April.
Thanks, Franco!
I also tried imaging at f46 (9.2 metres focal length) but the seeing really didn't support it. Here is the smaller AR in normal and inverted versions at this image scale. I wasn't going to post these but maybe they have some artistic charm!
Cheers.
Peter.

Nice set Peter!
How often do you have to collimate the scope? Do you have any issues with image shift with your SCT when focusing?
