April 23 in Ha/CaK/WL

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I had a chance to image a bit longer on Friday and was glad to have the clear skies and moderate seeing to enjoy the increased activity.

I'll start with the full disk images. The first is Ha through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800 with the ASI174MM camera, they are composites of separate disk and limb exposures:

The WL and CaK were images through the CR-150 OTA with an ASI1600MM camera using a Lunt Solar Wedge/Baader Continuum filter for the WL and a Lunt B1800CaK/Baader K-Line filter for the CaK image (stopped to 100mm). The WL image had limited detailed compared to the other filters (and shows me need to clean the camera):

The CaK images look much more impressive:

The balance of the images were taken with a 3x focal extender ahead of the camera for the WL and CaK images, and the pair of DSII etalons were added for the double stack Ha images...all through the CR-150 OTA.
First is AR2818:

The next image is AR2816 in Ha and CaK:

The southern hemisphere was the most interesting to me as it had a pair of long filament chains, AR2818, and a nice fila-prom on the SE limb. The image below is a 12 frame mosaic which turned out well enough, though the variable seeing does cause a bit variability across the frame:

The final image set shows the SE limb wit the fila-prom:

In all, a great day in the sun.

I also managed to set the remote pressure tuners and SSM set up Friday evening, so the next clear day should allow me to fine tune some of the operations and image capture.

Brian

Beautiful photos, I especially liked the mosaic, a variant with inversion.
