Sunday Sun 25th April 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

The seeing conditions were okay for full disks, but not great for magnified views, but I had to give it a go on the 150 mm/DS Lunt 35 mod just to get a good look at the major active regions on the active Sun. Cycle 25 is kicking in nicely.

First up are the FDs in Ha and Ca II K. My triple stacked Lunt 60 seems to be performing well, especially with the Coronado BF15.

Ca II K FDs in mono and colour with AR12818 AR12820 towards the centre of the disk looking great, each within their respective pool of bright plage.

...and in Ha with lots going on in terms of ARs, filaments and proms. It makes such a nice change from imaging blank disks :)

Finally, a closer view of Active Regions AR12818 and AR12820 on the 150 mm with seeing getting worse by the minute.

That's about it for today.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Lovely full disks, Stu and a beautiful close-up despite the seeing limitations.
Cheers.

These are really nice Stu, the TS is a top performer, what's exposure time like?

Great detail in spite of the seeing! I had similar issues with seeing and only managed a full disc, tried going in further and it was larger blur, lol. Well done!

Hi Mark,

Still pretty respectable at 10-15ms. Sometimes I add a little gain if the seeing is on the poor side so as to keep the exposure time down.
