My 26-4-2021 AR2818,2820,2821 WL CAPTURES

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

Well I had to wait for several-hours for a little clearing of those white fluffy things up yonder, but by around 1600z only a thin hazy-layer was to try and spoil the captures of this very-busy Regions of so many Sun-spots.

Determined to make the most of this event, I decided that the TeleVue 2•5x Powermate was the best way of capturing a close-up of all the area,
whereas the MEADE srs5000 5X TeleXtender would probably not make the best-grade from the less than favourable conditions...

Anyhow here are the three of the best with the techie-stuff in the windows

CLEAR SKIES
Terry

Thanks you Mark.
And now a modified version via imppg which is the first time I've tried that program.
Only basic-settings applied tonight, so will work on other images to see what improvements can be made...

Cheers
Terry

You certainly captured the complexity of this group, Terry.
Cheers.

Thank you Peter and still experimenting with different methods of capture and processing too.

You caught these well. I didn't have time to break out the imaging equipment but I did get some decent close-up visual views of the complex. I am glad you got to image today. I need to try out IMppg.

Thank you James and yes IMppg is the first time I've tried it out, even though it's been on my system for some time and I didn't really adjust any settings on it either. Just another leaning-curve to get into my grey-cells...

Also as I'm now starting to use the various Barlows, to see which are the best for the obvious purpose - just one more learning-curve.

At least now with all the observatory mods etc., since last July, much-time is now saved in starting to get images and especially with those two large screens, one of which actually swings-out to be very-close to the scopes for very-fine adjustments (even in the bright Sun-light)...

Just need now CLEAR SKIES to allow me to experiment...

Regards
Terry

Well done Terry, try not to "over sharpen" in Imppg.
You can fine-tune in Photoshop if you will.

Thanks you Maurits and the imppg version was done in a hurry, as had lots of other things to do and that was my first try of that program.

I don't use PhotoShop, rather PaintShopPro which has exactly the same sharpening process and was used first before imppg, which I understand is not correct.

3-lights captured today/27th which will be processed shortly and posted too...
Cheers
Terry

Nice captures Terry ! We all want to capture this group of sunspots, we do not get to do this very often...

Coming along nicely, Terry.

A suggestion, if I may? Capture more frames 2000-4000 and stack 1%, 5% and 10% (the percentages can be set prior to processing in AS!3).

Be gentle with ImPPG. Start with the default settings and work up slowly from there.

Thanks Franco and that is a super-reply.

Thanks you Stuart and yes I'm getting into this with the practice required and today's captures and processing, are (I hope) showing this practice.

I understand your comments about SharpCap downloads requiring more captures and less stacking percentage in AS, which i have started to do today,
albeit not quite with so many frames to play with today as you mention, but maybe tomorrow (weather permitting).

No rain here today - unlike much of the rest of the UK
Thanks vm
Terry
