Macro spicules, fine filaments and more.

Post by oreoluna »

Hello everyone.
A study of the peripheral areas AR2816 on the SSW-edge and AR2819 with protuberance on the NNW-edge.
The arrow indicates macrospicules. The plages of the AR2816 is framed with fine active filament threads, which also clearly stand out from the spicules on the edge. A large part of the protuberance is still on the surface.

I have been able to see longer-taller spicules with the SMII90 at higher magnifications during good seeing. So the taller ones are known as " Macrospicules "?

Thanks again for the further kind feedbacks.

@DeepSolar64
Yes. Spicule height is 7-8000Km, Macrospicules reach 12-15000Km or more. The macros are more likely to be seen individually.
