Session time is 10:00am until 12:06pm EDT local time ( US ). The skies are mostly cloudy with fair seeing. The temperature is 70F at session beginning and 75F at session's end.
Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x, 21.5x and 33x ( Ha )
The first thing I notice is the jagged plage of the AR12818-20-21 complex with two visible spots nearing the SW limb. I can see one filament to it's southeast. The only other plage I can see is a small bi-polar ( double ) one located in the NE. I hope this is an emerging flux region that will develop into another active region since the AR12818-20-21 complex is about to disappear around the SW limb.
In the southeast I can count 7 individual filaments in what may become a south polar crown of filaments in the far south. All are easy to see. In the north I see two much more difficult filaments. One almost due south of the pole and the other in the NW.
I can see only one easy prominence. It's a small one on the SW limb. I can also see a faint but large one on the NE limb and can see a little bit of detail in it in SS. I can see a couple of other tiny ones elsewhere on the limb.
The mottles are easy today.
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see 5 spots in the AR12818-20-21 complex. The faculae is striking showing considerable detail. I never could see the small pores shown by the SDO.
The granulation is visible today but not very easy.
Carpe Lumen!
James

Re: April 29 2021 Observations
Nice report James! Rain for me today, so my after work session never materialised. Rained so hard in fact our roof leaked
Hoping for sun first thing saturday, then heading off on the boat for a couple of days (travelling kit too), monday will be setting the second pier up on the easterly aspect of the house so I can get some 6am solar sessions in as the days get longer... Busy weekend ahead... Hope you get somemore sun in too!

Re: April 29 2021 Observations
Mark,
I have been reading on the narrowboats of England. I would love one. If I ever come to the UK I wanna ride through the countryside in one of these. And yes I would bring a solar kit too. My SMII60 and Orion70. Those boats are unlike the houseboats and pontoon boats we have here but like a houseboat you could live on one!
And Terry, you are welcome.
James

Re: April 29 2021 Observations
Fabulous report James, yes it looks like there is a southern polar crown of filaments as can be seen in Rainer's wonderful image
