April 30 2021 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is 12:07pm until 12:32pm EDT local time ( US ). The skies are mostly cloudy with both high and low clouds. The seeing is average to maybe a little below. The temperature is 64F. Windy.

Coronado Solarmax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
The active region complex of 12818-20-21 is now slowly processing off the disc in the SW. I can see it's plage with a faint prominence on the limb and a filament south of it. The only other plage on the disc took me some effort to see and it's located in the NE quadrant. So far no development into a full-blown active region has occurred with this one.

I can see a south polar crown or south polar belt of filaments, five filaments and a fairly bright prom going from SE to SW are visible even through high clouds.

The mottles are visible but a bit subdued by high cloudiness.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x, 41.5x and 62.5x ( WL )
I can see the faculae and three spots in the AR complex of 12818-20-21 very near the SW limb. A spot in it's NW is easy to see and another very near the limb. The third between them I can only see at 62.5x. Fine granulation of the disc is faintly visible. No other details seen on disc.

The soundtrack for today's session is In a Moment's Time by 7and5.

Happy Friday! Carpe Cerevisi!

James

I always look forward to seeing your work, Nigella.

You are welcome Maurits!

Terry, Hopefully we will have enough filaments and prominences to hold our interest until the next sunspot ridden active region appears.

Thanks for the report James, there are still bits and pieces to see. Cloudy here this morning so I fitted my new flange to the pier out the front of the house and fitted flange to the pier at the back of the house, just need clear skies at 6am and i'm good for full disk and low res imaging before work...

It's carpe cerevisi here this saturday afternoon. Moored up in our usual middle of nowhere spot, cloudy and light rain showers but I am ready for when el-sol does come out.
