Solar Physics 2021 book

Post by Fed »

Just read through the ‘preview’ portion of the kindle book from 2021:
https://www.amazon.ca/Space-Physics-Aer ... ext&sr=1-1

Surprisingly, it is way more accessible that I thought it would be. Very interesting, and I’d love to read it, but $240 is a lot to ask for something that might get too heavy for my limited background.

Has anyone read it? Does it get harder to follow. Also, are there any other nooks that have similar information I could try instead?

Thanks,

Fed

Goodness, that's really expensive, even when I was at uni I'd not have to buy such expensive books.

I have a lot of kindle solar books, but none this expensive. The most expensive are around $100. Around $50 is better.

Ooh, can't you buy something more friendly
https://www.springer.com/gp/book/9781461480143
https://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Eyes-Sun-O ... ks&sr=1-19

Or Christian's new book in English out later this month http://www.astronomiesolaire.com/
I'm sure these are much more interesting and cheaper too.

Supported.

And if you still want to go full-fledged physics, then for example New Millennium Solar Physics (2019) for $115 may evoke interest. Advanced yes, but nice color photos and illustrations :)

Thanks, I’ll gives these a look. I have also found a great resource in Springer “Living Reviews in Solar Physics”. Some of the articles are even partially understandable to me...

https://www.springer.com/journal/41116

Looking forward to the english version of Astronomie Solaire. Is the author on this forum?

Fed:
I have 2 old books that are very helpful for imaging and understanding the Sun.
"Solar Astronomy Handbook" by Beeck, Hilbrecht, Rainsch and Volker from Willmann- Bell, Inc
"The Sun and how to observe it". by Jamey L. Jenkins from Springer.
Best regards.
Eric.

Christian, congratulations on the book. It looks impressive. My conversational french didn't get me far on your website, so I'm looking forward to the english version of the book. Will you be publishing a kindle version too?
