7-5-2021 AR282(2) LARGE AR IN THE N.E. LIMB AREA

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

The attached SDO images clearly shows a large (very large) AR is now visible as has just emerged over the North-Eastern limb, as expected.

This is a very active region and has flared - whilst still on the dark-side..

Already at least apparent Sun-spots are visible in the hi-res image.

Terry

Many thanks Eric.
Will be good to see your captures, as I have just in the last hour tried to get a capture, but alas, they grey-stuff has rolled overhead and the satellite-imagery looks as if it is unlikely to get another look today.
Much of the same stuff expected over this weekend too..

Regards
Terry

Yes Nigella, your excellent screen-shots earlier - also showed well this new AR and its' spots.

Hopefully of course, we could be in for something big after that sleepy break...

Cheers

Hi Alexandra, yes I think you are correct about Jozef picking-up those proms and it is being reported elsewhere as such activity.

Nigella certainly has shown the almost identical images that SDO showed earlier and I must admit that she caught me by surprise earlier today, as I had a very late night-time session and failed to wake-up till nearly mid-day, so I have to blame Nigella, for getting the latest captures - in first...

I did try eventually this afternoon in getting the observatory ready for some WL imaging of the newbie, but as usual the grey (this time) stuff just blocked any possibility and noting a different direction of high cloud layer on the satellite imagery, decided that today is a no go...

Cheers
Terry

Thanks James and yes so many spots and still flaring as well.

Might even be a CME on the way from this very-active region...
Now numbered (at last) as AR2822 is showing as 5-spots at datum and the latest SDO image shows how active this AR is...

Cheers
