Today's session time is a short cloud-ridden observation around 12:40pm EDT local time ( US ). The birds are singing their wonderful songs and the seeing is good. The temperature is 61F.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x, 50x and 62.5x ( WL )
I can only see two spots in AR12822. The largest one is crescent shaped and still has a penumbra. The umbra appears to be developing light bridges which means it's in a state of decay. The second spot lies just to the east of the larger spot. AR12822 has now entered the NW quadrant.

AR12823 in the south shows only a single spot.

The granulation is easy to see today.

Have a solar weekend everyone!

James

Thank you James for the interesting report and your interpretation of what you see. Today I also saw this "crescent" on a laptop screen, though without such details as you have seen.

We also have birds singing, seagulls and swallows during the day, and nightingales at night.

Ivan

Thanks again James for the report.
Unable to see anything from here today, so have been busy doing some new processing ideas which I hope to share soon.

Best Wishes
Terry
