June 8 2021 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is 15:00 to 16:00 UTC. The skies are partly cloudy with fair seeing. The temperature is 75F.

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
I can see one easy plage on the disc. It is that of AR12829 in the SW. I can see a couple of filaments close by to it's SE and three more further to the SE. The plages to AR12828-30 at the SW limb and AR12827 at the NW limb are faintly visible too. I can also see a small disturbance in the NE. There's a tiny filament near the NE limb.

I can see a number of prominences. The SE shows a group that appears visually close to what the GONG image shows. I also see one in the NE and a bright one in the NW. The SE prom is the brightest of them all today.

The mottles cover the disc and are easily seen.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can count 7 spots in the group of AR12829 in the SW. The largest is at the SE part of the group. I can also see a spot in the SW surrounded by faculae associated with either AR12828 or AR12830 near the limb. I also can see AR12827 in the NW as a tiny pore surrounded by faculae. I can see another patch of faculae to it's north. AR12831 is on the limb. I can see a patch of faculae in the NE but see no spots or pores within it.

Carpe Lumen!

James

Thanks everyone and good luck on this morning's session, Mark. It doesn't look that great here for Wednesday. Clouds and thunderstorms.

Thanks for the interesting report, James.
Our weather has also deteriorated. On June 10, there will be a partial eclipse phase (about 18%), but it looks like only clouds will be clearly visible.
