June 10 2021 WL only

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is around 15:00 UTC. The skies are cloudy and I found one tiny gap! The temp is 75F and the seeing looks to be OK.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see two spot groupings on the Sun today. The first one is AR12829 in the SW. I can see two spots within it. SDO HMIc images show one to be double. I can see the associated faculae to the system. In the northern hemisphere just west of the central longitudinal meridian I see AR12832. I can see 5 spots/pores in the group. SDOHMIc imagery shows a few more. I can also see two patches of faculae in the SE quadrant near the limb.

Carpe Lumen!

James

Cheers James. A little quieter than of late, but an old friend is returning and hopefully with a lot of stuff - too.

Thanks everyone. The sun has been getting a bit quieter lately but for some the eclipse livened things up a little today.

It does look quiet considering there is so much to see in Halpha and CaK and I am sorry you missed the eclipse, but then you do get lots of full eclipses 2017 and 2024. I think the next one in the UK will be when I am long dead.

I am planning to travel in 2024 for the next total eclipse visible here. I did see the 2017 total eclipse. It passed over my Dad's in Lowndesville SC. I just hope the weather is good for the next big one.
