Partial eclipse from Finland on 10th Jun 2021

Post by cmas »

Recently I build a full disk setup based on Quark. So I used this for H-alpha and normal teleoptics for white light during the eclipse. Processing is not perfect due to some issues, but you have to leave something for the rainy days too, right? H-alpha setup details are in this link https://www.flickr.com/photos/130947324 ... ateposted/.

These are all taken with manual Alt-az mount with no tracking. Details via clicking the images (they also open a bit larger then).

Super, everything is very harmonious and beautiful. Your tracking in manual mode is excellent, I myself did it for several years (before buying the heq5) and I know how difficult it is.

Thank you for your kind comments, all!

Ivan: Well, I did not track the sun at all. I positioned / framed the shot and then shot up to 20-25 seconds at 160 fps. So I cannot really take any credit for manual tracking :)

I shot the planets and the moon with a refractor with a 2X Barlow lens. It was fun, because there is also a rotation of the field.

A quick addition to this as I forgot to adjust the levels a bit and the area around the sun was blooming a bit too much for my taste.

And finally a very crude animation with only 9 frames. This shows at least some evolution of the protuberances. Note to myself: next time constant intervals and maybe a tracking mount... :D Click the image to open the video.
