June 15 2021 Imaging Session

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Yes you read it right. No visual this time...gasp..gasp...!! I imaged first and got interrupted by my wife who came home early and then my daughter called and I never had time do do the visual part of the session.

I imaged between 10:30 and 11:30 AM local EDT time. The skies were mostly clear. Temp 75F and the seeing was slightly below average.

Enjoy!

All are taken using the ZWO ASI178MM camera on the Coronado SolarMax II 90 except for the last one which used the iPhone against the eyepiece of the SMII90.

James, these are great pictures!
Proms are great.
Most of all I liked "capture 00002". Such a nice color and soft processing.
Great session!

James. The 10_36_13 image prom has gorgeous detail and sharpness. Nice job.

Dan,
I seem to do better imaging proms than I do the disc. Thanks!

Ivan,
I try to not over sharpen. It increases noise and makes the image " brittle ". Thank you. :-)

David,
The 10_36_13 image was from a stack of about 100 images. It was my favorite of the bunch. Thanks.

Oh so well done James on capturing and processing your excellent images.

Shame about no report, but your images make up for that

CLEAR SKIES

Nice catches James :bow :hamster: it's lovely to see you tinkering with the camera. I am guessing the first image is single stack?

Yes, in single stack. I did a couple in doublestack but I really have trouble with uneven illumination using the second etalon. Much more so than I have visually. I also seem to have trouble getting on band with the camera vs visual.

James,

My wife and I (Wisconsin) and our children and grandchildren ( Georgia and Indiana) are vacationing this week in Black Mountain which as you know is about 25 miles from the end of your telescope. It is our first time visiting this beautiful region. Going forward, I will always relate your solar images with our coming together in the Blue Ridge Mountains after being apart for a year and a half due to the pandemic.

Jordan,
I love it here though it is far more crowded than it was in years past. I hope you brought a telescope with you!

Thank you Rod and Maurits. The second and third pics are certainly my favorites too. I chose those colors to try to make them look natural. I am glad you liked them.
