Ivan,
That's better than any Ha disk I have ever done. Your disc is evenly illuminated, good contrast and sharpness is just right. All details are shown. The plage of AR12833 just " pops " ! I love the first colored Ha FD!!!
BIG thumbs up!!

Sometimes I can do it evenly, but more often I don’t. I haven't figured out all the reasons yet. I think it depends on seeing, little visible clouds, etalon setting. I am sure there are many more reasons.
If it helps, then it was for this disc that I additionally filmed the central fragment. He became the basis of the mosaic. Perhaps this is why the background has become more uniform.
The mosaic I collected in Fotomerge is a function in Photoshop. Each piece of the finished mosaic can be lightened or darkened using "levels" or "curves". But I'm rarely satisfied with the result. Therefore, more often I use the "darken" or "lighten" tools with the lowest intensity settings. You can also use luma masks.
Exposure was 1 ms, shot at noon in strong winds. I shot 1000 frames, of which I added 15%.
For the experiment, I removed 3 discs with shutter speeds of 2, 3 and 1 ms, but I had not yet had time to process them.
Contrast and detail made in ImPPG. Then I darkened it in Photoshop, but it's a matter of taste.
The article that Alaxandra wrote helped me a lot: https://solarnutcase.livejournal.com/18572.html

Re: 06.16.21 Sun in Lunt50
This is excellent Ivan
Do you use flats for each part of the mosaic? To get an even disc I take all the frames, then go to the centre of the Sun, cover the front with opaque plastic and take a flat. I then use this flat with all the pieces of mosaic, then put them together in Photomerge. I find this helps with patchiness (most of the time).

Thank you, Alexandra
I forgot to add that at the beginning or end of the session, I make sure to shoot flats frames and add master flat in AS, and then calibrate all the fragments of the mosaic with it.
This helps to make the result uniform in brightness, but, unfortunately, not always. In my case, this is 3 or 4 successful panoramas out of 10. In other cases. I use the methods I wrote about above.

I have used Photomerge in PhotoShop years ago. I used it to do panos by putting pictures together. I wonder if GIMP has a similar tool?

I don't know James. I heard that a panorama can be assembled in the Image Composite Editor (ICE). Someone is using this program here in the forum.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 1:36 pm I have used Photomerge in PhotoShop years ago. I used it to do panos by putting pictures together. Re: 06.16.21 Sun in Lunt50
Hello,
I'm glad you liked it. I used the old qhy img0s camera. This is a monochrome ccd with non-adjustable cooling. The Lunt50 lacks focuser travel, so I have to use a 2x Barlow lens.
The color is synthetic, I'm still at the stage of finding the RGB balance.

I am experiencing the same identical issue.
Neither with the attached barlow I can reach focus.
So strange.

Beautiful disks, Ivan.
You have done a superb job of creating even illumination in these mosaics.
Cheers.

Re: 06.16.21 Sun in Lunt50
If I try to use camera without barlow, I have minimal inward issues. This mean that, to reach focus, I have to change diagonal eyepiece holder with a shorter one than the original.
If I put a barlow in the optical train, I can never reach focus.
I do not have the OEM helical focuser but a 40mm non-rotating helical focuser, sturdier and smoother than the original one.
My thoughts goes to future mods of Frankenscope using its etalon module. May I have critical focus issues? Perhaps this is an argument for a different topic...

Regarding focusing, unfortunately I cannot help you. I read about this problem, one solution is to replace the eyepiece holder (on the blocking filter) with a shorter one. Here's an example: https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/2510 ... d-sort-of/
But before that, I recommend just unscrewing it and bringing the camera up to make sure there is focus. By modifications, there is a whole branch here: viewforum.php?f=9
I recommend reading this material, there is just about Lunt50: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19238 Ivan
