June 21 2021 Observations.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is from 14:29 to 15:25 UTC. The skies are partly cloudy. The seeing is above average and the temperature is 80F.

Coronado SolarMax II 90 DS. 32x, 44.5x and 64x ( Ha )
I can see almost all the detail seen on the GONG Cerro Tololo Ha image today! AR12833 in the NW shows it's spot being surrounded on three sides by plage. N-W-S. A long dark filament lies to it's east. NE of that long filamet is an easy " patch " filament.

I can see a tiny eye shaped plage in the south just across the CLM and another tiny plage in the SE. I can see some " ruffleage " with associated filaments in the SW. I can also see a slight amount of ruffleage in the NE.

Outside of the aforementioned filaments I can see small ones in the far south, one in the NE and two more in the NW. One of those in the NW is an easy to see filaprom!

I can see 5 nice but small prominences in the NW. The second from the top is a filaprom. I can also see some small ones in the east-southeast.

The mottles are easy today and I can see the spicule layer on the limb.

Celestron NexStar 102GT w/Altair wedge and 540nm filter. 55x, 110x and 166.5x ( WL )
The large spot of AR12833 shows nice detail. Despite a report of a light bridge through the umbra I could not see one. I can see irregularities in the umbral edge though. The penumbra shows nice detail. Radial lines are easily seen. I can see seven pores near the large spot. One to the north is elongated.

A patch of faculae lies near the SW limb.

I can see the individual granules. 110x gives the best view. The seeing is messing with the higher magnification in the 6mm Delos eyepiece.

Carpe Diem!

James

Excellent viewing session, James. It's always a little sad when AR weakens or approaches the limb.

Glad you're getting some views in James and thanks for the report. Starting to claw some time back into my life now, but is cloudy :)

I wondered where you have been, Mark.

I have clouds today. I am hoping for at least a white light view. It doesn't look good though.

Slightly less manic now though, so hoping to be back here a little more like normal. I miss my solarchat ;)
