July 4th - Ha Session

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

The skies were slow to clear this morning but I was treated to mostly clear skies for an hour or so before the noon hour, which gave me time to do some Ha images before the clouds returned. The sun is looking great with multiple active regions and filaments to provide lots of imaging targets. There were a few small proms too.

The first images are from a full disk composite taken through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha and ASI174MM camera:
Full-Ha_07042021.jpg

Full-Ha_07042021-fc.jpg
Full-Ha_07042021-fc.jpg (610.58 KiB) Viewed 441 times
The remainder of the session used the Orion EON 130ED OTA with a 4x Powermate and Daystar Quantum 0.45A filter, and the ASI174MM camera was still used. The first image is a 2 frame mosaic of AR2835-2836:

AR2835-2836-Ha-fc.jpg (846.68 KiB) Viewed 441 times
To the north of these AR's the disturbed region associated with the flare and short lived AR2838 was rotating off the NW limb:
NE-Ha.jpg

In the mid northern hemisphere was AR2837:

I found the developing AR int he NE quadrant the most active, as it was flaring and undergoing changes over short period of time. I do not see an AR number assigned to it yet, but this might be worth watching in the coming days:
No-Name_AR-Ha.jpg
No-Name_AR-Ha.jpg (381.97 KiB) Viewed 441 times
I made a second set of image of AR28352836 and the surrounding area a little later in the session and was able to make a mosaic that included the filaments and disturbed area to the west:

SW-Ha-inv.jpg (863.67 KiB) Viewed 439 times
SW-Ha-fc.jpg

AS I was imaging I kept going back to the NE quadrant where the activity was rapidly changing, and grabbed multiple videos which I put into a six frame mosaic which shows some of the changes over the 26 minute time frame:
NE_Activity.jpg
NE_Activity.jpg (842.75 KiB) Viewed 439 times
By this time I was starting to be interrupted by cloud and only managed a few of the proms before I call it a day:

NW_Prom.jpg

This covers the images from today. I hope you enjoy these, as I have been watching the posts all weekend to try and keep up.
