Session time is from 15:00 to 18:00 UTC. The skies are partly cloudy. The seeing is really jumpy and varies wildly between fair to poor. The temperature is 81F ( 27.2C ).
Coronado SolarMax II 90 DS. 32x and 44.5x ( Ha )
The southwest quadrant is quite busy today. AR12835-36 is visible as a spot and plage. Two fair sized filaments lie SE of it. Another filament lies near the limb in the far SW. The SE quad is very quiet with only a tiny filament near the limb. The NE shows a plage ( AR12839 ). The NW is a bit busier with AR12837's plage and another small plage NW of it.
The limb is fairly active with prominences today. The NW has a nice hedegrow that shows decent detail in moments of good seeing. I could'nt figure out if it looked like a thick-trunked baobab forest or a grouping of thunderheads. At one point it looked quite tangled up like trees wrapped in vines. South of these lie two triangular proms. The southernmost one of these showed a little detail to my scope. The NE shows another decent prom. One leaning south with faint wisps of plasma to it's south.
The discwide mottles are easy and I can see the tin spicule layer on the limb.
I did image in Ha today. The pictures are attached below.
Celestron NexStar 102GT w/ Altair wedge and 540nm filter. 55x ( WL )
The large spot of AR12835 is seen in the SW near the limb. It's penumbra surrounded umbra is split in two by a light bridge. It's also surrounded by bright faculae. I can see only a couple of small spots or pores near it. The mass of attending spots seemed to have evaporated away! I see nothing of AR12836 except it's faculae. I can see only two spots to AR12839 in the NE. I see 1 tiny spot in the location of AR12837! NW of AR12837 where Ha shows a new plage I can see three tiny pores. Faculae are visible in both the NE and NW areas of the disc near the limb.
Granulation comes and goes with the seeing.
Carpe Noctem!

Some very fine descriptions and I see them in your wonderful images. A great set James, you are really getting the hang of it now. Looks like you need to take 4 and you would have a full disc to zip together and have a shot to compare with next January

Re: July 5 2021 Observations. Visual and Imaging.
Thanks everyone for your compliments and input and Alexandra, yes I am going to have to learn to do mosaics. I could also use the SMII60 to do full discs. The SMII90 outperforms it considerably though, especially with the camera.
