FDs in Ha and CaK 14th July 2021

Post by Carbon60 »

A period of wet grey days here is over and we're looking forward to a weekend of sunshine (assuming that the weather people have got it right). Today was mainly sunny from mid morning with large gaps between the clouds allowing time to capture some full disks in Ha and Ca II K.

The seeing wasn't up to hi-res work by the time I got set up, which is a pity as there were some lovely tree-like proms rising from the north-west limb. Anyhow, here are my FDs.

Ca II K
40mm refractor
Lunt B1800 module + Omega filter
Basler acA2440-75 um

Hydrogen Alpha:
Lunt 60mm TS

1.5x Barlow
3 strongly overlapping panes

Looking forward to some early morning sunshine. Hopefully the seeing conditions will be suitable for a bit of hi-res.

As always, thanks for looking.

Stu.

Stu, this is excellent for both calcium and hydrogen. I especially liked the small details in Ha, in my little Lint50 I only see these in very good visibility. Thank you.

Hi Alexandra,

Yes, finally. The second front mounted etalon (triple stacking) makes it an expensive 60mm scope, but I’m getting much better, more even FDs with nicely defined features, from this setup. It was worth the investment.
