Second Light Solar Spectrum + C11
Even more excited today with the C11 trials. I took my best ever Halpha. This Solar Spectrum is crazy! a zillion times better than my totally not understandable PST mod. Lovely contrast again.
First I would like to thank Rupert from Astrograph who spent 3 weeks helping me with the maths and supplying all the parts I needed, and second to Leo who helped me so much to learn the processing with the C11.
First off, still long on the back of the C11, this time with a 3x telecentric + ARIES ERF + ZWO ASI174

At one point I had rock steady seeing for about 3 minutes, it didn't move but these images didn't stack as well as the gittery ones, weird. So I processed both.

Re: Second Light Solar Spectrum + C11
Whispering (not shouting) that at least the weather is allowing you to play with the new-gear Alexandra.
Also just whispering, that this weather could (or should) last for a few more days (till at least Thursday) if the charts are correct.
These are excellent captures, so keep-up the good work imaging in-between your other work..
Thanks for sharing

Wow, great pictures.
I wish you a clear sky to delight us with great pictures more often.
It would be interesting to know about the processing features.

This is an excellent start. The SolarSpectrum 0.3 A is quite good !

Re: Second Light Solar Spectrum + C11
Absolutely beautiful.
I'm curious about the long extension following the SS filter - I'd expect you can put the camera right behind it (+ a focal reducer, if needed). Is it simply due to the telecentric lens giving such long backfocus?

Re: Second Light Solar Spectrum + C11
Nice work, Alexandra. Your Solar Spectrum is giving you great results. I was out at the same time trialling my 250mm RCT again (better than yesterday) but spent most of my time using the 150mm.
I'm so glad for you that things have finally come together as I know how much of a nightmare the PST version was for you.
Stu.

Re: Second Light Solar Spectrum + C11
Good start for a new piece of equipment! Yes, this SS looks very good. The setup looks very impressive!
I took a liberty to try to extract a little more details and I feel your images (even at such a seeing) have some more potential.

Re: Second Light Solar Spectrum + C11
Thanks a million guys
Filip, you have to get the maths right by getting the camera chip at exactly 220mm from the end of the 4x telecentric, or in this case 250mm after the back of the 3x telecentric. Then find the focus! I don't have a wedge, well I do but it doesn't fit on the back of the Solar Spectrum so I have to use extension tubes instead. In this case I didn't need the telecompressors to reduce the scale.
Thanks Valery, always good to see different processing. I still have a lot to learn! baby wings at the moment and lots of excitement to come I think

You denied me ahhaah! viewtopic.php?p=300670#p300670
I didn't thought about a full aperture ERF!
Your images are astonishing in resolution, contrast, details... You only have to manage with seeing and then...shoot baby, shoot!
I'm really happy for you!

Re: Second Light Solar Spectrum + C11
Congratulations again Alexandra!
The fine detail is much like a fractal image.
The deeper you go the more it reveals.
I too, tried to "augment" your subtle processing.
The amazing thing is that your latest images stand up to such clumsy abuses.
So many images fall flat with the least touch of enlargement and sharpening.
Yours just go on giving and forgiving.
