Sunday Sun 18th July 2021_RCT and 150mm mods

Post by Carbon60 »

We're having a brilliant weekend of weather here and I've had another opportunity to trial my reconfigured 250mm RCT. Yesterday was diabolical from a seeing standpoint, but this morning the seeing conditions were almost perfect (for here anyhow). The SSM was showing 0.8 arc seconds or better, with averages of 0.8-1.2 arc seconds, so it doesn't get much better than that, certainly from my driveway.

First up some RCT images of AR12842, including a mosaic of 4 panes around the core.

I've resisted over-sharpening these, but even with great seeing conditions they are somewhat soft.

Here's the same region on my 150mm mod at various scales on a 2.5x and 5x PM respectively:

...and a 6 pane mosaic over the same region:

AR12845 is looking pretty nice too:

as is the high latitude region AR12844

That's about it for today.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Well done Stu! :bow

It's good that somebody is capturing some decent seeing.

Worst seeing ever here today!

WOW Stu, what a great set ! As always, conditions are more than half the end results, but these are really super.

Wow!! Stuart, these are great, I think I would be quite happy with the RCT images, but the 150mm really stands out :bow :bow :hamster:

These came out well Stu! The 150mm shots were spot on for the conditions.
