If you had the choice between a coronado "PST 1A" with a separate coronado 40mm 0,5A double stacking etalon (option 1) or a real coronado "PST 0,5A" as one piece (option 2), would you like option one or two?
It's most of the time to use seriously visual, before to open my observatory.

Re: Choice
I would choose the double stack as well.

Re: Choice
I thought the first option with the separate 0,5A DS etalon has more potential, because without the extra DS etalon I can see better the prominences.
Of course the second option is always 0,5A with super details on the surface but less visible prominences.

Re: Choice
Your answer above Maurits is very correct.
For 10-years, my Lunt 60 Ha has proven that the SS is far better for proms, as well as surface detail being fairly good.
Whereas DS-ing limits the proms to a large extent and benefits the surface detail with far-better contrast.
If my mount would allow (which it might), I would have a Lunt Ha-60-SS, Lunt Ha-60-DS, Lunt 60 Cal-K and the new S/W 80-ESPRIT-HW-WL on the array.
To keep messing with Adding/Tuning/Imaging/Removal of a DS is not my way of doing things on a regular basis, but hey, who knows, maybe another Lunt 60-Ha will be investigated as to a possibility for a QUAD-SCOPE Assembly !!!
Best Wishes
Terry

Re: Choice
I have a PST with an add on front DS module and I love it!! I hardly ever use it single stack, maybe 1% of the time.
