July 23 2021 - A nice filament and other things

Post by Simon2940 »

Here's images from todays session. It's been cloudy and hazy here in LA over the past few days and the heat isnt helping. Last night i felt the humidity which is uncommon for us on the west coast so I didnt get much sleep. At least I was up early to catch the sun but having to cut thru a nasty layer of hazy and fire smoke made it somewhat harder than usual. Seeing on the other hand was really good which made up for the transparency.

This first image is a stack of a stack. 33 files 1500 frames, best 35% then stacked again. While this basically destroys any details seen on a prom, the surface appears smoother and noise free.

Stunning work yet again Simon! These are aesthetically beautiful and resolve the chromosphere very well, clearly resolving the nature of the mottles. The spicule layer across the disc.

You have an excellent Quark!

Superb images Simon, I love the fine details of the solar limb and all the little spicules and I think these are lost in the first processing style. I prefer the others much more.
