I hardly had time to set up my big gun before the clouds started to roll in this morning, so I had to be quick when the Sun reached my early morning observing spot on my driveway. I started by tweaking the collimation, which I think was a bit out after driving to Alexandra's and back the other day. When the Sun popped over my neighbours roof (not ideal for good seeing), I searched around for a suitable target. AR12847 came into view, so a quick focus and couple of SERs was all I could manage along with a flat field SER before everything 'turned south'. I hung around for about 30 minutes hoping for a decent gap, but to no avail and that was it for this session.
Anyhow, here's the result in mono and colour. Given the conditions it's a little soft and some of the fine structure has been missed.

I hope you have better luck.
Thanks for looking.

That turned out pretty good Stu. How often do you find you need to re-collimate the RCT?

Well done Stu on capturing some sun-light today, compared to S.E. not having much chance today.
Cheers

I check the scope's collimation using my Takahashi Collimating Scope every time I use it. I find that it sometimes requires only a very minor tweak, but most often it doesn't need anything adjusting.

Many thanks, everyone. Looks like we're in for a spell of poor weather....thunderstorms today.

Nevertheless, Stu, the volume of this sunny scene is very noticeable! Wish a lot of sunny days!
