Animations of Arch prom from 7/27 and 7/28/2021

Post by rigel123 »

This arch prom has persisted for a number of days on the Eastern Limb. Here are animations of the changes in that prom from one day to the next. On the 28th there was a bit of vortex movement added to the arch that was not present on the 27th. The 27th animation is looped forward and backward, the one on the 28th is simply forward and repeats. Lunt LS60T SS, Skyris 236M, 300 frames every 30 seconds for a total of 30 minutes on the 27th and 45 minutes on the 28th. Best 30% stacked in AS!3, sharpened in ImPPG and GIF finished in PS CC. Both have been rotated 90 degees CW for viewing

I love these! That movement is really fast considering this prom is probably the size of the planet Jupiter!

Thanks James, Mark, Alexandra and Franco! Glad I was able to capture these since the forecast for clear weather doesn’t look promising in the near future!

Thanks Ivan! They aren’t difficult to do, but a bit tedious at times and variations in seeing, high clouds, etc can make a mess of them but it’s always fun when you can catch something unexpected!
