Session time is from 14:00 to 14:45 UTC. The skies are mostly clear but hazy. The seeing is fair. The temperature is 75F ( 23.8C ).
Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x, 21.5x and 33x ( Ha )
I can see 4 disturbed areas on the solar disc in Ha today. I can see a small plage in the NW that is yet un-numbered. The SW shows a ruffled area that is the remains of AR12827 and AR12829 receding around the limb. Well to the SE of these is a bright but yet un-numbered plage. The far SE shows a disturbance near the limb.
I do see a few filaments on the disc today. I see a single small filament below the un-numbered NW plage. Except for due north I see filaments surrounding the bright un-numbered plage in the SW. One that lies between it and AR12829 it large and fairly dark.
I can see all of the prominences shown on the GONG Cerro Tololo Ha image in my Coronado SMII60. None are overly spectacular but would benefit from higher mag/rez, especially those on the NE limb. The brightest ones are on the NW limb.
The mottles are easy today.
Orion 70 mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can see three regions, all in the southern hemisphere. AR12827-12829 in the SW shows only faculae. The un-numbered one in the SW shows 5 spots/pores. Maybe 6. Two spots are easy. I can also see another scattered patch of faculae in the SE. The granulation can be easily seen.
Carpe Lumen!
James

Re: August 2 2021 Observations
Nice report James, I was up and out nice and early this morning - was really quite autumnal with a chill at only 10c/50f (certainly compared to how has been). Was nice to see the new active region, and the smaller activity that has rounded the limb, spent a while with the DS90 taking in the view.
