Heads Up 4th August

Post by Stardust5858 »

Hi all, just some screenshots of todays activity, the Sun seems to be a little quieter today. New plage area to the SE and AR2850 still showing spots. A few small proms particularly on the NW limb.

Thank you Ella for your latest captures, which yes, both the disk and proms are quiet today except for the S.W. AR2850.

As forecast from 0200hrs in my observatory, there is much high-thin cloud in our region, so will spend much of today processing 11+Gbytes of Saturn and Jupiter imagery taken last night with the newbie S/W ESPRIT scope instead...

Have a good day
Terry

Thanks for the heads up Ella, just haze and towering clouds today for me, wouldn't surprise me if I get a heavy shower before nightfall.

Though I can see them visually in Ha, Your Ca II K images shows the plages/faculae better than I can see them visually, especially the disturbed areas between the two southern plages.

Thanks Ella!

Hi Nigella,

In recent days, the Sun is not very active. Your screenshots are still great. Thanks.

Thanks Terry, not done any imaging for a few days, had to get worst of the eaves done before the rain. Great you've got some imaging done on Jupiter and Saturn.

Thanks James, yeah, the plages showed up well in Ca II K. AR2850 was interesting in Ca II K as well.

Hi Nigella, great captures, nothing but strong westerly winds down here in Brisbane, It's good to see that the UK is getting some clear skies.
I just wondered why you are using sidereal tracking and not solar?.

Thanks Martin, appreciated. I usually do do solar tracking, hadn't noticed that I forgot to change to solar tracking in my efforts to quickly grab a session, lol. You'll notice that I did on one screenshot. Sidereal is the default so I have to change that. If you know a way to make solar tracking my default I'd really appreciate that. Many thanks.

Glad you managed to capture some images, Ella. A bit hit and miss at the moment here with the weather....one minute bright sunshine and the next it looks stormy!!

Terrible weather here today, horizontal lashing rain since yesterday evening. Not much to do today but to stare at the water and hope it may stop. I guess this is why Ireland is green :)

Hi Nigella, I'm not sure if there is a way to change the default settings for EQMOD as I'm quite new to it.
